Ampicillin + Colistin

Indications

Pigs and sheep.

–  Septicemia caused by Streptococcus suis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Salmonella  spp.

– Gastroenteritis caused by Escherichia coli and Salmonella spp.

– Respiratory infections caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Bordetella bronchisepticaHaemophillus parasuis and Mannheimia haemolytica.

– Mamitis caused by Staphylococcus spp. and Escherichia coli.

– Metritis caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum.

– Interdigital whiplows caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum.

– Arthritis caused by Streptococcus suis.

Details

  • Injectable suspension.
  • Format: Vials of 100 and 250 ml.
  • Animal species: Pigs and sheep.

Ampicillin 100 mg/ml + Colistin sulfate 200,000 IU/ml.

Swine: 10-20 mg ampicillin + 25,000-50,000 IU colistin sulfate/kg b.w./12 hours, for 3-5 days (equivalent to 1-2 ml of Quinocilin/10 kg pv /12 hours, for 3-5 days).
Sheep: 10-20 mg ampicillin + 25,000-50,000 IU colistin sulfate/kg b.w./24 hours, for 3-5 days (equivalent to 1-2 ml of Quinocilin/10 kg pv /24 hours, for 3-5 days).

Meat: Pigs: 22 days. Sheep: 22 days.
